Procedure to apply for Voter ID card in Bengaluru

A voter ID card is a document that proves your identity as a citizen and a voter. It is issued by the Election Commission of India and allows you to cast your vote in elections. It also serves as a valid ID proof for various purposes such as applying for a passport, SIM card, bank account, etc.

If you are a resident of Bengaluru and want to get a voter ID card, here are the steps you need to follow:
  •  Check your eligibility. You must be at least 18 years of age and have a permanent address in Bengaluru. You must also be enrolled in the voter list of your assembly constituency.
  •     Choose your method of application. You can apply for a voter ID card either online or offline. The online method is faster and easier, while the offline method may require you to visit the election office in person.
  •     Fill the application form. If you choose the online method, you can visit the website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka1 or the Voter Portal of the Election Commission of India2 and click on the ‘Enrol As A Voter’ option. You will have to register with your mobile number or email ID and then fill the Form 6 with your personal details such as name, age, address, etc. You will also have to upload your photo and documents such as age proof, address proof and identity proof. If you choose the offline method, you can visit the election office in your area and get a printed copy of Form 6 from there. You will have to fill it manually and attach your photo and documents.
Procedure to apply for Voter ID card in Bengaluru

 
  •     Submit the application form. If you apply online, you can submit the form by clicking on the ‘submit’ button. You will receive an acknowledgement number that can be used to track your application status. If you apply offline, you will have to submit the form along with your documents at the election office or send it by post.
  •     Track your application status. You can check the status of your application online by visiting the website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka1 or the Voter Portal of the Election Commission of India2 and entering your acknowledgement number or application ID. You can also call the helpline number 080-44554455 or send an SMS to 9731979899 with ECI <space> <application ID>. You can also visit the election office and enquire about your status.
  •     Collect your voter ID card. Once your application is verified and approved, you will receive an SMS or email informing you that your voter ID card is ready. You can collect it from the election office or it may be delivered to your address by post.

To update your existing details on your voter ID card, such as change of address, name, photo, etc., you will have to fill Form 8 online or offline and submit it along with the relevant documents
