Parimala Prasada is a special sweet dish that is offered to the devotees of Sri Raghavendra Swamiji, a revered saint and philosopher of the Dvaita school of Vedanta. Origin and Significance

The origin of Parimala Prasada is linked to the life and teachings of Sri Raghavendra Swamiji, who lived in the 17th century CE. He was a scholar, poet, musician and a devotee of Lord Vishnu. He wrote many works on Dvaita philosophy, such as Sudha Parimala, a commentary on the Brahma Sutras. He also performed many miracles and helped many people in need.

He attained Jeeva Samadhi (a state of conscious exit from the body) at Mantralaya, a town on the banks of the Tungabhadra river in Andhra Pradesh. His samadhi is located in a temple complex called Sri Raghavendra Swamy Brindavan, which is visited by millions of pilgrims every year.

Parimala Prasada is named after his book Sudha Parimala, which means “the nectar of fragrance”. It is believed that Sri Raghavendra Swamiji himself instructed his disciples to prepare this prasada and offer it to him and his devotees. The prasada is considered to be a manifestation of his grace and blessings. It is also said to have healing and spiritual properties.

Preparation and Distribution

Parimala Prasada is prepared by the temple authorities in a hygienic and traditional manner. The ingredients are carefully selected and measured. The wheat flour is roasted in ghee until golden brown. The sugar is dissolved in water and boiled to make a thick syrup. The roasted flour is then added to the syrup along with raisins, cardamom, edible camphor and other spices. The mixture is stirred well until it forms a thick mass. The prasada is then shaped into small balls or laddoos.

The prasada is distributed to the devotees who visit the temple for darshan (viewing) of Sri Raghavendra Swamiji’s samadhi. The devotees can also buy the prasada from the temple shops or order it online. The prasada can be stored for a long time without spoiling.

Parimala Prasada is not only a delicious sweet but also a sacred offering that connects the devotees with Sri Raghavendra Swamiji’s divine presence. It is a symbol of his love, compassion and wisdom that guides his followers on the path of Dvaita Vedanta.
