- The ward is named after Krishnarajapuram, a neighborhood in Bengaluru that is also known as K R Puram or K R Pura.
- Krishnarajapuram means “the town of Krishna”, referring to the Hindu god Krishna who is worshipped in a temple located in the area.
- The temple was built by the Hoysala king Veera Ballala II in the 12th century and is one of the oldest temples in Bengaluru.
